we were born sick
heathcliff
i realized i’m a man who lives fiercely
the world need not my regard
nor i theirs, when in my castle of mortar and
pain, paved with ill intentions
i alone stand tall
wuthering goes the heights
they talk about the ghosts that howl
piercing the night incessantly,
a toast to vengeance, to thirst, to desire
to love
cathy, my heart
hear my prayer (my command)
dancing amongst the golden fiends
heed the siren call of the pomegranate seeds
let not the ichor that flows through their veins
taint yours
(for theirs is a diluted sort of fury)
you and i,
we are not
two, but
one
your lips, they are mine own creation
your eyes, the mirrors of the soul that resides within me
your skin, my canvas
you, mine
(and i yours, love)
come hither into my arms
together we are the storm that hangs
gray and heavy over that cursed house
we are the silence between the howls
the cacophony of souls clashing

catherine
oh, the nerve, the audacity
of the world to stand between us, love
to part our locked fingers and tear
so cruelly at the chains that bind us
there on the moors lies my lavender home,
where we once, spellbound
pranced around each other, batting away the
flies who so desired to divide us
there in the heathers, where our children
sprawl, unkempt
we once built a kingdom of our own
wreathed with golden glow and
ashen ailing
now, hear my cry! hear my call!
heathcliff, my heart, the cavern
in my chest, so aches
return
where the wildest winds blow, i shall
step forth, and if you will hear a whistling,
whispering, whimpering voice
it is i, come back from high heaven or the very
depths of hell
to return to your arms
and leave with you in mine
🐝 - Obviously written a day after I finished Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights. It never ceases to amaze me how a story can be so compelling when its protagonists are so fucking unlikable. I wanted to strangle both of the Catherines, Heathcliff, and the younger Linton. They're selfish, awful people, and that's exactly what I was going for here. Title from Hozier's Take Me To Church.
